BIOGRAPHY
There were so many bands that helped me find my metal footing. Axis, Derringer, Bang, Bloodrock, Tucky Buzzard, early REO, Uriah Heep, Humble Pie, Slade. The List is almost endless. Each album by each band had at least one song on it that became an anthem to me, one guitar riff that I thought was so cool that I had to learn it. All were instrumental in my music journey. The one constant throughout them all is I gravitated to the heaviest they had to offer. That forged the mold that would lead me to present day.

I guess I could be called the driving force behind Portal. I write all the songs and play all the instruments on the recordings except the drums. The three drummers who contributed to these songs are forces of nature.
The first truly heavy song I ever heard was around the age of 13. It was Black Sabbath's Into The Void. Needless to say hearing it changed my life trajectory. Good thing. Growing up in Texas could have meant a life in country music, but that was not meant to be.
I enjoy most strains of heavy music and have my favorites just like anyone else. Since Hendrix, killer guitar players have caught my attention-Iommi, Schenker, Blackmore, you name them, I bought their music. A current favorite are the musicians backing Baby Metal. Fierce players and amazing talent.
As I get older my rock roots tend to show themselves more and I find the heavier the song the better. That being the case, I've resigned myself to going out of this world rocking hard. I am an avid reader, especially world history. Knowing that will explain the main source of my lyrics, even though my eyes are wide open on a daily basis watching the world around me. Everything can be a song in my books. A heavy one-Razar
