New kid on the block? Hardly. PORTAL was listening to doom metal before it was called doom metal. That early prog, down tuned fuzz rock that became doom was in our blood from the 70's on. Sabbath, Manilla Road, Sir Lord Baltimore, Pentagram, Blue Cheer-distorted heavy rock that few understood in those days of hit radio.

Since my days in middle school I have listened to bands playing hard rock, always thinking "it could be heavier" or "this is what I would have done at the chorus." When the day arrived that allowed me to make music I went straight to heavy-the heaviest my mind could conceive. And THAT has been a passion for me to this day.
